Square Foot Garden Update the little plants are beginning to show. Peas in the back, tomatos, lima beans, .. and LOTS of grass. Need to get to pulling weeds. :D I am very excited that Lowes is carrying organic soil now. So far everything in my garden is organic. I have even thankfully found a product for fire ants that claim to be organic. Just to be on the safe side though, I do not use it in the garden directly but use it sparingly around the outer edges. One of the little buggers bit me today. They are a nasty lot and I wish death and destruction to all of them. The bright idea to put strawberries between the two beds proved not to be a great idea. I can't walk in there and weed very easily. We may be moving them after they quit producing. Until then, yummy. They are so good. We plan to put a 2 foot parameter of pine mulch all around the bed to hopefully keep the grass down. We do have an abundance of that (pine needles and grass) Fall 2007 Square Foot Garden (09/10/07) Got three 8ft long lengths of trellis cedar and Paul cut it up for me to make my square foot garden grid just in time to start the fall planting season here in Florida over Labor Day weekend. I'm not sure that I'll have the second half of this raised bed ready by this coming weekend, but at least I know Julia and I can putz around in one 4x4 ft space in the meanwhile.
